my page looks awful with it, at least

i could listen to the new osquinn album but it's too depressing for me to just put it on loop

it will, however, make a fine addition to my "listening to sad music makes you sad" playlist

yes i did find this on hackernews, no i am not a hackernews user, i swear, i just went there out of morbid curiosity,

yes, this may or may not be a subpost. or... subthought? idk

tbh, i've been wondering if i haven't been using this too much like i'd use "social media". as in, a lot of this stuff could just go on my fedi/twitter account, and it'd fit there just fine. noone says i have to actually check on these sites, i can just modify my existing post script to post for me without me ever having to interact with a timeline of some sort

you know what i usually didn't want to post on social media though, funnily enough? jokes, shitposts and random thoughts. for one, i am bad at them. for two, they usually have a target audience that's somewhere in my followers list but it always ends up resonating with the wrong people

technically, it'd actually make the most sense for me to move tech stuff from here to, say, fedi, and move everything else to here

i made a drawing recently but never actually turned it digital, which is a shame because the drawing i made on paper was just kind of a concept sketch

if i'm already drawing on pc i prefer to do it in paint.net, which doesn't work on linux... i guess pinta gets the closest

(wine is unusable in alpine atm, at least for me and one other person who made an issue about it)

i did all my earlier digital art on my 3ds but for a more advanced drawing like this one i'd much rather use a program with proper canvas resizing support

oh damn, clementine's scrobbling support doesn't play nicely with looping singular tracks, which also happens to be, like, my main way of listening to music

found a workaround: make an empty playlist with the track you want to loop added to it twice

i really wish last.fm had an option for merging two artists together. like, i have 3000 plays for p4rkr (because quinn didn't change her name on spotify) but only like less-than-1000 for osquinn

i could just automate it move all of my p4rkr plays over to osquinn with last.fm's api, but that doesn't feel fair

...why do i care so much about looking cool on last.fm anyways

i mean there's some point in it at least, i'm definitely in the top ~100 or so of p4rkr listeners on last.fm, and on place 15 of fmbot's .fmgw. that's only for p4rkr specifically, for osquinn i have 800 plays

i was considering making my own alpine repo for packages that for whatever reason i couldn't put in regular aports, like pinta (which i'm holding off because it's gtk2) or brother printer/scanner drivers (which will be complicated to port anyways and i barely began work on them)

oh yeah i still can't print from my pc on linux because of brother's shitty proprietary drivers

top 3 most influential artists in the past 2 years

  1. osquinn

  2. dltzk

  3. uhhhh idk i might just put 100 gecs here even though technically my fav gecs album is the original ep from 2017

i could go on and on about what i deem to be influential albums but at the end of the day the only thing they were influential in would arguably be changing my music taste

i was thinking of making a chart with my fav albums. there was a thing like that going around on twitter a while ago

ok i posted a list on my fedi account

i had the idea once for a youtube series talking in-depth about all the various tid-bits in software and operating systems. like, not on a technical level, but at a "let's take a tour around every preinstalled program and feature in windows 7, including the ones that require you to have special hardware" or "here's a hypothetical microsoft office setup and what each of the programs can do".

2013 me would've loved such a series. 2021 me would still very much like to see it happen

technically i could do something like that but it'd require me to get some kind of screen capture software or do everything in a vm, and i feel inclined to do all of this on real hardware for authenticity reasons

i don't have a hdmi capture card, but perhaps i should get one

speaking of threads, i was wondering if i wouldn't be able to abuse the "new file" functionality to add thread subpages. then again i don't want to take up too much space on thoughts.page's servers

Sep 15, 2021 - 7:50PM #1631728215

y'know, this reminds me - i had a quiet account on fedi way back in the day, where i didn't follow anyone and i didn't post anything publically. having all of the regular social media goodies like screenshots while getting none of the same interaction was very refreshing

i'm very much willing to do this again, i've gotten burned out honestly

Sep 15, 2021 - 7:48PM #1631728116

i was going to say "also rss feeds would be nice" then i realized that the more ideas i have for this the more i realize i'm trying to turn it into social media which is Not Intended, Actually

Sep 15, 2021 - 7:30PM #1631727049

admittedly it's kind of a shame that there's no thread feature. i often tend to pick up on something after i post something else, it's a habit i've developed on regular social media

...adding that would probably reduce the minimalism though

Sep 15, 2021 - 7:28PM #1631726917

i wonder how newlines are formatted internally

i need to know for theming purposes

Sep 15, 2021 - 7:18PM #1631726303

tbh i was thinking about something basically like this. social media gets tiring sometimes yknow
